STREET NAMED DIVINE...'part 2- "TARTINE"

AFTER A SUMPTUOUS LUNCH AT DELFINA, IT IS  UNTHINKABLE NOT TO INDULGE AND HIGHLIGHT THIS TRIP WITH A WELL MADE, WELL BAKED, WELL PAIRED FLAVORS IN DESSERTS BY  A WIDELY FAMOUS BAKERY  THAT IS LITERALLY AND I MEAN LITERALLY A "STONE THROW AWAY" FROM DELFINA PLAYFULLY  CALLED TARTINE (A French open-faced sandwich, especially one with a rich or fancy spread. or translate to Canape in English) BAKERY AND CAFE.

TARTINE HAS BEEN IN EXISTENCE FOR QUITE A WHILE  SINCE 2002  TO BE EXACT PROBABLY SHAMEFUL TO ADMIT THAT IT IS ONLY NOW I AM DISCOVERING THESE PLACES , YOU SEE,  I NEVER CLAIM TO BE A GOURMET, MAN ABOUT TOWN ALL KNOWING AND ABREAST WITH THE LATEST FOOD TREND AND THIS IS WHAT THIS BLOG IS ALL ABOUT. DEDICATED TO CLOSET FOOD LOVERS AND LATE BLOOMERS....IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO REDISCOVER YOUR PASSION FOR  TASTEFUL, FLAVORFUL MEALS AND  I HOPE THAT I,  IN MY OWN LITTLE WAY , CONTRIBUTE TO  INFORM THEE OF THE WHATS AND WHERES OF THE YUMMMS AND THE HMMMS AS I DISCOVER NEW FLAVORS OR REDISCOVER  THAT SPECIFIC TASTE  IN A FAVORITE  DISH THAT WILL MAKE BOTH OF US SAY  "THAT'S IT". THAT VIRGIN LEVEL OF TASTE THAT  WILL BE AWAKENED IN THE PROCESS.OF DISCOVERY WHEN ONE TRULY REALIZES WHAT THE WORD DELICIOUS REALLY MEANS.

TARTINE USES ORGANIC FLOUR SUGAR, LOCAL EGGS AND AS MUCH  ORGANIC PRODUCTS AS  POSSIBLE.

I HAVE NOT TRIED ENOUGH OF THEIR PRODUCT TO REVIEW THEM APPROPRIATELY;Y BUT BASED ON WHAT I HAVE CONSUMED THUS FAR. IT IS A DEFINITE "YUMMM"

A STREET NAMED DIVINE... (4 part series)

DIVINE FOOD INDULGENCE THAT IS,. WHERE ELSE CAN YOU FIND A GOOD ITALIAN CAFE , PIZZERIA, A CREAMERY,  ONE OF THE BEST PATISSERIE IN SAN FRANCISCO AND A MARKET THAT OFFERS LOCAL GROWN ORGANIC PRODUCE, IMPORTED AND DOMESTIC GOURMET PRODUCTS..WITHIN 2 BLOCKS AND A SHORT STROLL FROM ONE ANOTHER BUT ON 18TH STREET BETWEEN MISSION AND GUERRERO. OH .. MY.. GOD..!!! ONE SHOULD BE SO LUCKY TO LIVE AROUND HERE AS FRIENDS AND I LITERALLY MAKE THIS A DAY TRIP, A FOOD CRAVING DESTINATION TRIP..AS A MATTER OF FACT, I BELIEVE THIS COULD VERY WELL BE LISTED AS A TOURIST ATTRACTION . OOPPPS I DIDN'T SAY THAT AS PARKING COULD BE A CHALLENGE AS IT IS ( I ALWAYS FIND ONE ON GUERRERO BY THE MISSION DOLORES CHURCH) AND THE LOCALS MIGHT BURN ME AT THE STAKE IN PROTEST TO PRESERVE THIS UNASSUMINGLY QUIET BLOCK FOOD LOVERS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD WILL BE DELIGHTED TO VISIT .

PIZZERIA DELFINA

 DELFINA, IS A SMALL, INVITING COZY ,CRACK ON A WALL NEIGHBORHOOD  PIZZERIA  WITH A  SOPHISTICATED BIG CITY OFFERINGS.  MENU  IS EARTHY AND BOLD  WITH A STRONG  INFLUENCE OF  SOUTHERN ITALY  CUISINE WHERE OWNER  WORKED AND TRAINED AS A CHEF IN THE REGION OF CALABRIA. (I GOT THIS BIT OF INFORMATION FROM ANDREA , MY VERY FAVORITER CHARMING, FRIENDLY AND VIVACIOUS SERVER. PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG.

MY MOST FAVORED DISHES ARE:

PROSCIUTTO PIE. : OR A PIZZA BIANCA, THE CRUST IS ABSOLUTE PERFECTION, I BELIEVE THIS IS ONE QUALITY THAT MAKES THIS PLACE  STAND OUT.  I MEAN YOU CAN PUT ANYTHING ON THIS CRUST AND IT WILL BE GOOD AND HERE THEIR PROSCIUTTO DI PARMA, IS JUST RIGHT, YOU TASTE HAM AND NOT SALT. AND THE PIE IS MADE CREAMY WITH FRESH MOZZARELLA,  CACIOCAVALLO , AND PANNA THEN TOPPED WITH FRESH ORGANIC ARUGULA. AND EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL , YUMMMM..... (I REQUEST FOR AN ADDITIONAL ANCHOVIES , A VERY PERSONAL CHOICE)


ZUPPA SUNCHOKE- A DELICATELY CREAMY SOUP WITH SUNCHOKE, FLAT PASTA AND TOPPED WITH NOCELLARA OLIO NUOVO\OLIVE OIL  ( I DIE....) ANOTHER WINTER EARLY SPRING  MUST TRY TREAT.... A BIG YUMMM
